Student Council is a student lead council that allows all students the ability to contribute on areas that need development within the University. Once a month MetSU Student Council meets. Its objective to discuss and debate a range of issues and policies. This then sets out the direction and focus of your Students' Union.
There are many ways of becoming involved in the Council. If you are a student you can simply come along and get fully involved in any discussions that take place and voice any opinion you might have. However if you feel strongly on any issue of feel that you have ideas to revolutionise a role within the council then you can elect yourself to be an Officer on council.
Becoming an Officer or simply attending council meetings has many advantages. This is that you understand and know what is happening within the University but also more importantly what is getting done about it. There are many opportunities in being involved in the Student Council such as training, new skills, confidence, going away to conferences; the list is endless.
If you want more information please don’t hesitate to ask us throughout the year, as the students union is run by you the student without your participation and direction we would be nothing.
