Board of Governors
A meeting held each term where our University Governors, consisting of both staff and local representatives, come together and discuss, review and consider the actions of the University

Board of Governors Personnel Committee
A sub-committee to the Board of Governors. Sub committees are often created in all works of life, and enables a small group to go away and research and discuss a particular topic further and then produce its findings to the main meeting.

Academic Board
This is fed into by our three faculties at which we have three council faculty reps plus colleagues attend. They feed up to the University meeting. In this board almost anything goes. Anything which may infringe the experience of our students can be raised in this meeting.

Academic Audit, Quality & Standards Committee
Faculty Reps are members of the student council; we have one for each faculty. They attend the faculty level meeting, and then there is a University level meeting which considers the minutes of all three to discuss or accept further action. This meeting is ensuring students are getting both the quality and standards they deserve, hence the title.

Learning, Teaching & Assessment Committee
A meeting which is attended by our faculty reps, after which minutes are passed up to the University level meeting, which I attend.

Academic Policy Committee
Our University runs by a series of policies, the do’s and don’ts along with the 'what to do’s'. In this meeting policy is reviewed, amended and set.
• Regulations & Special Cases Committee
This meeting is to ensure you, our students, are being listened to and what our regulations are under certain circumstances. It's another meeting where policy is discussed and fed into different areas.

Ethics Committee
We offer a multitude of courses, of which some can discuss and explore sensitive issues. This board reviews students’ projects, particularly research studies for our post grad students. Its to ensure the work being produced here at Swansea Met is indeed ethical.

Student Affairs Committee
This is our best represented meeting, there are around fifteen places on this committee, of which our SU takes five places, given to the President, Welfare & Student Rights Officer, and our three faculty student representatives. Our student council agenda’s are reviewed and any pressing matters affecting students are brought up, with a strategy to moving forward planned. Diversity and representation are key areas for the Students’ Union and we strive to achieve excellent standards. The opportunity to do this is within this working group, meeting each term and discussing ways forwards.

IT Users Group
As good as it sounds, this group is a subcommittee and works towards ensuring you our students are getting the most relevant pieces of hardware and software for computers for you to successfully achieve your degrees.

Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability Committee
This is the final of our University meetings. As the name declares the committee consider any health and safety aspects of the sites and look at how we can improve them. We also make sure we're having a positive effect on the environment reducing our carbon footprint and being kind to the world.
