national student survey

What is the NSS???

Quite simply the National Student Survey (NSS) is a survey of all final year undergraduate students across the UK to see what they thought of their whole experience at Uni.

It is conducted by an outside organisation and is completely anonymous , meaning that you get a chance to totally honest over your time as a student.

What do they want to know?

The NSS is mainly based around your academic experience, they want to know if your lectures made your course interesting, if you think you got enough feedback to help you improve your work, did they organise and manage your course well and where their enough resources for you to complete your work.

They ask you 20 questions and you have to rank you experience on a scale of 1-5.

Why do they want to know?

The reasons that they want to know all of this is simple:

1. The results are published to help prospective students make a more informed choice about where they go to Uni. Students can look at previous results to see how students who have completed the course actually rate it.

2. The University and the SU evaluate the results and see where improvements can be made, or where the Uni are doing really well.
