ACTIVE
Active is the home of MetSU Sport, this section contains all the need to know information is to keep you up to date with all sports news, fixtures, results, events and also aid the captains with the everyday running of your sports team.
Here at the MetSU we currently have 8 competitive sports teams that anyone is welcome to join (Join a Sports Team). We also have sporting societies set up so there are plenty of opportunities for you to join in (Join a Society).
As mentioned Active is the home of MetSU Sport, before attending trials or playing for any of our MetSU Sport teams you MUST own an Active Pass. This year our Active pass is so much
more than just insurance cover during trials, training and matches. It allows you free entry and a free drink every Wednesday at our very own Fuzzy Logic night in Oceana.
The majority of our teams compete in the official University Leagues and Competitions: BUCS (British University and College Sport). Our BUCS teams will gain points through competing in these leagues and competitions throughout the year.
If you should have any further questions beyond the scope of this section of the website, please do not hesitate to get in contact!
The Student Union believes that Sports Teams play a vital role in University life as they broaden the personal development of each and every student. The activities that our Sports Teams provide give the opportunity to all 6000 of our students to gain skills and experience in areas that would otherwise not be available to them.
At the end of the year MetSU holds The Active Ball. This is the most prestigious sports event of the year and should NOT be missed! After all the hard work put in by each team through the year, they get the chance to let their hair down and party into the night. During the ceremony, awards are given to individuals and teams who deserve credit for their achievements throughout the year, including Colours Awards given to those individuals who have been dedicated to their club throughout their university life.
We also end each sporting year with our annual Varsity against Trinity Saint David, which we have won the last 2 years in a row and I for one don’t plan on loosing it any time soon!!!
Good luck for the coming season.
