Council believes:

That the NUS Wales Women’s Campaign launched the first edition of Libertine in March 2007.
That Libertine was written by female students in Wales and distributed to HEIs and FEIs throughout Wales.
That Libertine featured articles and poetry about women’s campaign issues and issues that are relevant to our female students.
That the first edition explored topics such as feminism, international women’s rights, sex trafficking, domestic abuse and body image.
That students’ unions outside of NUS Wales have asked for copies of Libertine to help establish their own women’s publications on campus.

Council further believes:

That Libertine can act as a tool to inform and raise awareness of issues that do not usually feature in general SU publications.
That Libertine is an interactive campaign tool that directly engages with grass-roots students and can reach out to students who may usually refrain from involving themselves in the Women’s Campaign.
That this type of activity gives female students across Wales a sense of ownership over a Women’s Campaign project.
That Libertine also provides a way of celebrating and show-casing students from Wales’ work such as creative writing, journalism and media.  Libertine also provides the opportunity to include art, drawing and photography.
That the NUS Wales Women’s Campaign should embrace female creativity and provide a platform to showcase the talents of our female students.
That campaigning for women’s liberation can be effective through a range of different mediums.

Council resolves:

That the NUS Wales Women’s Officer and NUS Wales Women’s Committee should work towards the production of future issues of Libertine.
That female students from all FE and HE institutions should be invited to submit articles.
That Libertine should be distributed in electronic and hard formats to FE and HE institutions across Wales.
